Think of the whole edition

A record is more than an audio format. The sleeve, paper, booklet, disc and any accompanying objects shape how the release is held, opened and kept. We approach the music and packaging as a coherent edition.

Start with the music, audience and release plan. The right format depends on running time, quantity, retail presentation and budget. A vinyl edition, a CD in a card sleeve and a collector’s box have different production requirements.

Vinyl, CD or both?

  • Vinyl: choose the format, speed, colour, weight and sleeve around the programme and creative direction. Audio preparation and test pressings need their own place in the schedule.
  • CD: choose replication or duplication according to the quantity and project, then define the packaging, booklet and printed disc.
  • Box sets: coordinate the physical record with clothing, print or a collectible, including the insert and final packing.

Prepare the files before production

An approved audio master and print-ready artwork are separate requirements. Request the correct templates for the selected format before finishing the design. Check track order, sides, spine, disc labels, credits and barcode requirements with your release team.

The Studio checks the production brief and coordinates the approvals needed for the chosen edition. Confirm who has final sign-off on audio and artwork so changes do not arrive after manufacturing has started.

Build a realistic budget and calendar

The total depends on format, quantity, audio preparation, packaging, print finishes, assembly and shipping. Compare quotes for the same specification. Unit price alone does not describe the full release cost.

Minimum quantities and lead times vary by format and production conditions. Share the release date, stock delivery deadline and destination early. Physical manufacturing needs time for checks and approvals as well as production.

Connect the record to the collection

The Studio can develop clothing, accessories and collectible objects alongside your physical music. Keep one creative direction while planning each item’s production schedule separately.

Merchly App supports merchandise sales and stock tracking. CD and vinyl sales through our solution are reported to SNEP and count towards certifications; discuss the setup before launch.

Plan my physical release

Questions, answered.

What do you need for an initial quote?

The format, quantity, programme length, packaging idea, preferred delivery date and destination. Tell us whether the audio master and artwork are ready.

Can you create a collector’s box with other products?

Yes. We can study a coordinated edition with clothing, print or objects, including the insert, assembly and delivery.

Does artwork approval also approve the audio?

No. Audio and visual approvals are separate. The relevant checks and sign-off are agreed for your production process.
